We personally advise around 8 weeks prior to the occasion. Kids don't really change that much in 6/ 8 weeks, and if the style / size is unavailable it allows plenty of time for the order to be manufactured. Another thing, it also adds time for any unexpected postal delays (yes unfortunately this can happen), and size changes. Leaving this too close to the event is simply an added stress you do not need to be dealing with.
Obviously you can order as close as you wish to the occasion but please bear in mind that most bridal boutiques we can have lead times. We hold a hundreds if not thousands of dresses but this is split between styles, colours and sizes. Leaving it until later would mean the possibility of us having to cancel the order on the chosen style that you would like for your special day.
